Modhemia
Modhemia is a woman-owned jewelry business based in Brooklyn, NY that opened in 2017. The owner connected with me in early 2019 hoping to expand her visibility through marketing and copywriting. I’ve been working directly with the owner to enhance her website navigation and copy, while also occasionally ghostwriting pieces of content for publications.
Ghostwriting
I received an email from the owner asking if I could prepare content for Brooklyn Magazine’s 30 Under 30 2019 nomination cycle, so I did my research. After reading several 30 Under 30 interviews, I took the outline and scheduled a phone call with Modhemia hoping to get enough information to ghost write the Brooklyn Magazine submission content. Unsure of whether the content would be submitted as a form or recorded during a nomination interview, I prepared answers that she could later use for either. I then used this content to gather a better understanding of what Modhemia is all about, which allows me to write copy for her website with consistency and accuracy.
Web Content
Using my knowledge of marketing and writing in active voice, I spent the first few months drafting new copy for Modhemia’s website. Developing the right voice and style is especially important for a young brand, and I wanted to make sure that I was not stepping on feet or putting words in mouths. After reading pages of style notes and wish lists, sifting through similar brands, I got a better handle on the desired language and tone. I use the newly developed brand voice to write website copy, email marketing copy, social media posts, and blog posts.
Consultation and Strategy
In addition to my extensive writing, editing, and branding, I devise strategic marketing plans and schedules for Modhemia to follow. I serve as a consultant for the business owner, teaching her about SEO, website navigation, blog integration, and networking, which once set up, will provide as a solid marketing foundation for Modhemia when I am no longer working with them.
