One Second

Goal: Announce the NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) victories of the Kimball Union Academy alpine ski team, and advertise the school's online newspaper

Audience: The Kimball Union Community (shown at an All-School Meeting in an auditorium)

Message: The Kimball Union alpine ski team did very well at their most recent event; you should read the KUA online newspaper so you're up-to-date on all sports news

Technique: The advertisement is done in the style of the Visa Olympic commercials; the blue tint is an imitation of those aired for the winter games. "go wildcats" is a play on "go world" and the final scene provides a plug for the school's online newspaper. This is the first and only recorded account of the Claw's motto (also created by me). The parody is meant to instill a sense of pride in the KUAlpine team and the members of its school community. The music ("Paper Man" by Christophe Beck) is synched up to the cross-blocks and mountain carves of the skiers. The use of unfathomable facts relating to time give non-racers a comparison to understand the achievement. While I do use a deeper voice, this was not an impression of Morgan Freeman.

Monday Morning Live (Opening Theme)

Goal: Create an intro video for All-School Meeting at Kimball Union Academy

Audience: The Kimball Union Academy community (shown at an All-School Meeting in an auditorium)

Message: What if All-School Meeting were more fun? What if it were done in the style of Saturday Night Live?

Technique: After a cold opening depicting a conversation between the Dean of Students and the School President, the intro video was introduced with "LIVE FROM MERIDEN, IT'S MONDAY MORNING!" The video is a parody of the Saturday Night Live introduction, featuring the theme song by NBC. The camera angles and movement, tile transitions, and silly/smiley portraits are all reminiscent of the SNL intro. The names have been colored differently, and the SNL font has been matched. The photo of the host has been edited to emulate the host photos from SNL as well. The voice used is my impression of Don Pardo (SNL announcer).

Heroes

Goal: Create a recruitment video for the Kimball Union Fire Brigade

Audience: The Kimball Union Academy community (shown at an All-School Meeting in an auditorium)

Message: The students, faculty, and staff firefighters in this community are heroes, and their time, passion, and commitment is extensive

Technique: The video is mostly comprised of vignetted photos, which convey the feeling of experiencing memories. The script was written like poetry to instill pride and awe in the viewer. "Time" by Hans Zimmer plays in the background, which crescendos with the severity of the words spoken by the narrator. I used a deep announcer voice for the narration to give a sense of seriousness and maturity to the advertisement. In the wake of some of my more comedic videos, I didn't want this to be taken as a joke.
